Indian mobile subscriber (bothe GSM and CDMA) base at the end of July 2006 stands at 111.23 million, according to the latest numbers released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Release in PDF here).
At the end of July, the total fixed lines were 47.36 million (according to The Hindu Business Line, the fixed line base declined by 0.06 million), taking the gross telephony subscribers in the country to 158.59 million. This gives a tele-density of 14.40 at the end of July 2006 as compared to 13.95 at the end of June 2006.
Broadband
Broadband connections at the end of July 2006 stand at 1.70 million adding 0.15 million during the month. The additions during first four months of current financial year is 0.35 million as compared to 0.25 millions during the corresponding period last year.
I don’t think the broadband growth is anything to write home about.
