UTV Inks Two International Movie Deals Including An Animated Feature

In a disclosure made to Bombay Stock Exchange, UTV Entertainment stated that it had entered into an agreement with Overbrook Entertainment Inc to produce two full length feature films. One is an animated feature. Their US subsidiary, UTV Communications has also entered into an agreement with Fox Searchlight Pictures for the ‘distribution and exploitation in respect of a film – “I Think I Love My Wife”‘
Speaking to Indiantelevision.com, UTV CEO Ronnie Screwvala outlined his future plans for the digital content space. He said that they are bullish on animation with an outsourcing order in place. Organic growth is expected from the TV content business and movie production. Inorganic growth is expected from gaming acquisitions.
This means that UTV will have a presence across the value chain – they can co-produce a movie, provide its animation, distribute it, and create the promos and the games. Keep an eye on this content powerhouse.
