Business Standard: This is big news. Google plans to set up a back-office operations facility in a special economic zone in Andhra Pradesh. Google’s proposal to set up the facility in an SEZ was one of the proposals cleared by the government yesterday. The search engine giant may invest about $1 billion in the venture. The report says that- the operations will be spread over 1 million sq ft.
Google already has a development centre in Bangalore and an Adword back office in Hyderabad.
Besides Google’s, there were 45 other SEZ investment proposals cleared by the government including that of Acenture and SAP. A formal notification is expected to be issued later this week.
