We’d written a few days ago about an interactive e-learning initiative that’s gotten noticed – HeyMath. Now here’s m-learning.
Rediff reports that Pune based Kalzoom Technologies has bagged an order from a Singapore based company for m-learning solutions. The name of the client remains undisclosed. M-learning allows users to download learning material on their mobile.
Last year I’d seen a news report on quizzes for the CAT exam on the mobile, so the concept of m-learning isn’t exactly new to India. Wizdom.in had also launched m-learning packages for GRE preparation.
Kalzoom is essentially a KPO that specialises in content services. It was founded by three IIT-Kanpur alumni. The rediff report also quotes Kalzoom CEO Sunderaraman as saying that though m-learning may seem as an extension to the e-learning concept, the former requires a lot of detailing. “One needs to decide on the kind of content that can be framed in a downloadable format.”
It just hasn’t caught everyone’s attention yet, but mobile interactive tutorials and game-based learning industry looks like one to watch out for. I just hope they don’t come up with driving lessons for the mobile, lest someone decides to learn how to drive with a mobile on the dashboard.
