Carrier IQ has secured $10 million of a $12 million Series A funding round, with backers including Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures and Mohr, and Davidow. It’s headed by WebTV co-founder Bruce Leak. According to its website it offers to “lower operating costs, increase customer satisfaction and reduce customer churn”, via tracking technology embedded in handsets that offer real time information — CarrierIQ seems to analyse the info for you too. The company aggregates the data, but it’s still likely to concern some privacy groups…
