Law.com is the Web’s leading legal news and information network. We are seeking an Director of Content to lead its San Francisco-based content team. The Director of Content will oversee a group of nine to ten full-time editor/producers, who are responsible for updating the site throughout the day. Solid news judgment is a must, as is experience working with contributing writers. Successful applicants will have recruited and managed top-notch freelance writers and has a solid knowledge of how to interpret and leverage online metrics.
The Director of Content will also set strategy for the site, build out new areas of Law.com and maintain quality control. Experience writing a product plan and launching features and/or sites is critical for this position. The Director of Content will have the opportunity to work with the senior editors and writers in these newspaper and magazine divisions.
The Director of Content should be comfortable with the modern online newsroom. Law.com is non-traditional news organization, where all individuals are asked to play several roles, from writing/reporting to selecting content for newsletters. As the company is growing its user-generated content engine with a robust blog network, this is an excellent role for a progressive thinker, who wants to think creatively about third-party content. The executive editor will report to the online managing director.
