A nice tidbit from Universal Music Group… the song Ridin’ by the rapper Chamillionaire has sold a record 3 million ringtones (these are mastertones), which made it the top seller in a growing market. Telephia estimated that the ringtone claimed 3.2% of the markets revenue in the US. “The sales, at about $2.50 a pop, imply revenue of as much as $7.5 million for the track…We had several weeks where it sold over 200,000 units per week in the U.S. It’s astonishing.”
Also, The Sun in UK says it also sold 30,000 mobile video downloads of Ridin’.
