National Geographic Channel Internationa: Digital Media Director, Washington, DC

The National Geographic Channel International (NGCI) broadcasts smart factual entertainment in 163 countries globally. We are looking for a unique individual with a combination of creative and technical skills to help ensure consumers can access our content wherever and whenever they choose.
The Digital Media Director will be responsible for the planning, creating and coordinating of all non-linear content for NGCI. Identify new business opportunities for the channel on emerging non-linear platforms, including VOD, Broadband, Mobile and Interactive TV. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to managing development, rollout and launch of non-linear services and content internationally. Manage creation and production of non-linear products, generating ideas and identifying content to be re-purposed and commissioned acquired. Generate creative/technical briefs for in-house teams and third-party developers. Identify non-linear potential for future programming commissions, thereby influencing the commission process. Liaise with regional offices and third-party aggregators to identify individual market needs and generating ideas to meet their needs. Manage and oversee channel promotional websites including the fulfillment of ad sales initiatives. Create systems for the delivery and tracking of non-linear content. Provide research for new and emerging technologies that will facilitate future digital media projects.
Six (6) to eight (8) years experience in New Media industry with specific expertise in the creation and production of original content. Proven experience of creating revenue generating non-linear products and services preferably related to television. An expert understanding of emerging technologies and opportunities; a clear awareness rights issues, content management systems and related multiplatform publishing applications. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills and with the ability both to work autonomously and within a team. Knowledge of the international media marketplace and developments in Broadband, Mobile and Interactive television required.
