More European 3G Woes: Offer Very Cheap Voice; Start Praying

The Register has a good article on the problems facing European operators in terms of their 3G licenses, which could be exacerbated by regulators trying to force them to meet their license obligations when it has become obvious it would be uneconomical to do so. From the article the best hope for 3G operators is to offer very cheap voice to lure people to the networks, and hope they then start using the premium content and services. They tend not to use the higher-end services though, so something has to be done to convince the customer base of the worth of things like video calling and high-end content.
