– Busted pilots awash on Web: Shows showing up on video sharing sites, and it is good for everyone, if played right. It seems unlikely studios will risk alienating creators, especially since most pilots simply die after they’re rejected by networks. If anything, having consumers respond positively to a show rejected by a network only serves to validate the studio’s decision to take a risk on a project.
— UK’s TV Body to extend TV ratings to PCs and web: Barb, the UK television industry’s official ratings body, starting in January 2010 (why so late?), will extend audience measurement for video content to pubs and bars, PCs and video downloads.
— GameTap puts Cartoon, Anime programs in play: GameTap, Turner’s broadband gaming/entertainment service, has added original programming and shows from Cartoon Network and the Anime Channel. Among the expanded lineup is “Computer Lab,” the 12th original series to debut on GameTap, which is produced by GameTap and Soup2Nuts, creators of Adult Swim’s “Home Movies.”
— TNT in Multiplatform Deal for PGA Coverage: In a first for a U.S. golf event, select coverage of this month’s 2006 PGA Championship will be offered up on PGA.com, as part of a deal with broadcast partner TNT.
— TBS calls on Endemol to get interactive: Endemol USA is producing a stripped two-hour block of live interactive programming for TBS, in the same vein as similar ventures launched with broadcasters in other territories, such as Five and Sky in the UK.
— Sony’s Movies For Download Across Europe: A deal between Sony Pictures TV Intl. and Arts Alliance Media, a leading Euro provider of digital film distribution services, allows AAM to digitally distribute 180 of Sony Pics’ back catalog titles.
