Consumers Demand Digital Convergence, Says Nokia Survey

According to a Nokia NSeries study, 73% of those surveyed globally use mobile phones as their primary timekeeper and alarm clock; 68% of surveyed Indians use their mobile phones for photography. Convergence is the demand of our times as 42% of global respondents want their printer, PC, stereo, TV and mobile devices interconnected.
Tapio Hedman, senior vice president of marketing, Multimedia, at Nokia, said: “The results strongly demonstrate that people are buying into the idea of convergence – they really do want one device that does it all, from taking quality images, to storing their music collections and operating a digitally connected home.” [press release]
This affirms the belief that consumer demand will drive convergence of technology, and that, in turn, will allow content providers a single, universal platform that will be inseparable from the consumer of the future.
