PMG Acquires Utah Based Westwords

The Hindu reports that PreMedia Global USA Inc (PMG), an Ohio-based knowledge and content service provider with operations in Chennai, has been on a M&A spree having just acquired the business of Westwords, a Utah based content management company. Westwords primarily produces textbooks, but has also produced educational software in collaboration with Powerhouse Software. PMG has decided to merge Westwords with a Massachussetts-based publishing services provider that they acquired a few days ago. Last October, PMG itself had merged with the Ohio based Beacon Group to create BeaconPMG, a US-India content offshoring partnership specialising in XML based content production.
PMG was floated by Kapil Viswanathan, an industrial engineering graduate from Stanford, and his elder sister Kami V. Narayan. Beginning operations in March 2005, PMG is one of the largest vendors for US based publishers like Pearson, Houghton Miffin and Wiley, and now has a dominant presence in all key market segments in the US, providing a one stop solution to publishers and content developers.
PMG’s advisory board consists of Prof. Clayton Christensen of Harvard Business School and Tom Manning, a former Chairman of Cap Gemini and currently an early-stage investor based in Hong Kong.
