Buongiorno USA, the US subsidiary of the Italian/European mobile content player Buongiorno SpA Group, has bought out Los Gatos, CA-based mobile content firm Rocket Mobile, for about $17 million, plus net current assets. An earn-out of up to $10 million may also be paid, based on the next 12 month performance.
Founded in 2001, Rocket Mobile has created BREW apps for the likes of Motorola, Verizon Wireless, Samsung, Sony BMG, Qualcomm, National Geographic, Corbis, and others.
Rocket’s 2005 revenues were about $5 million, with and operating income of about $0.27 million. For 2006, it hope sot have revenues of $10 million, and operating income of about $2.2 million.
Buongiorno has been trying to kickstart its operations within U.S. and has its main offices in Miami.
