Reports to: Vice President of Strategic Alliances
Salary: 100k+
We are seeking a senior business development director who has worked for a wireless provider (Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.) in the past 2 – 3 years. Or a senior business development director who has worked for a handset manufacturer in the past few years.
Key Accountabilities:
— Identify, negotiate and manage of business relationships for Audible‘s World-Wide Wireless business – partners including wireless providers, handset manufacturers, mobile software solution providers, MVNO, etc.
— Develop and execute comprehensive short-term and long-term strategies that extend Audible’s wireless products into new business industries, sectors, etc. and build economic models that demonstrate the viability of that strategy.
— Build internal commitments required to produce long-term, profitable business relationships with wireless/handset partners. Develop, champion and execute business plans for growth of the wireless business in Audible.
— Maintain, monitor and evaluate the success of the wireless/handset partner portfolio. Make strategic decisions concerning the viability of each portfolio company.
— Build external relationships and secure external commitments with wireless/handset partners to extend the reach of Audible beyond the contracted partnership basis. Seeking out new opportunities to enhance and grow the partnership for increase revenue potential for the partner and for Audible.
— Act as an evangelist of the wireless product internally and externally – working with RD (Research and Development) and the Corporate Communications Department to establish Audible as the dominate content solution in the wireless industry.
— Product manage the development of the wireless product – identifying new functionalities and updating existing functionalities, manage the software development from a marketing prospective, work with technology to create a feature set rollout strategy and timeline, etc.
— Project manage fulfillment and implement for the wireless contracts – working with legal, technology and Audible international to ensure contract adherence.
— Manage the activities of direct reports and/or external consultants.
Experience:
— Minimum 5 years experience in the wireless carrier and/or handset industry
— Experience in business development, contract negotiations
— Interactive or software marketing experience preferred
— MBA preferred, JD/MBA a plus.
