Smithsonian Publishing is forming an “Online Publishing Group” and Emily Allen was named director of the new division. Allen is responsible for content and business development for its sites Smithsonian.com, Airandspacemagazine.com, and MySmithsonian.com, launching January 2007. In addition, Allen will direct all marketing and sales strategies relating to the internet business, and she will lead a dedicated team. Prior to Smithsonian, Allen worked at Time4 Media, where she was the online manager for GolfOnline.com.
With a circulation of more than two million subscribers, Smithsonian is the 33rd largest magazine in America, the company said.
