Japanese carrier Softbank (which bought the Vodafone network) has announced it is setting up a new company — Mobile Media Planning Corp — to conduct a “technical study” of MediaFlo. So it joins another Japanese operator KDDI and BSkyB in the UK in testing the technology.
Obviously Qualcomm is keen to expand the use of MediaFLO beyond the US, although most commentators see mobile TV technology as a race between DVB-H and DMB.
