PixFusion, an NYC-based personalized video tools firm, has received $4.2 million in first round funding. The round was led by Mercury Capital Partners with participation from Stonehenge Capital Company. PixFusion’s product allows consumers to insert a picture of a child/person into an entertainment video or animated characters. The company licenses videos in which it can offer such services…the funding will be used to expand its children’s personalized video business under its Kideo brand, by acquiring additional character licenses and expanding marketing efforts.
Kideo’s videos include titles Dora the Explorer and Arthur, which are licensed from Nickelodeon and the WGBH Educational Foundation, respectively.
On the online side, PixFusion will begin to deliver personalized video greeting cards, movie trailers and music videos to desktops, cellphones and other devices.
