Cable Broadband Provider and Exclusive Content Deals: NYT takes a lok at ESPN360 and how it is tying up with cable broadband providers exclusively, to provide video content. Comcast, Verizon and Adelphia are the most aggressive in doing such deals.
Time Out New York Launches Broadband Channel: Time Out New York has launched a broadband video channel, Timeoutnewyork.tv, following its VOD cable launc in New York on Time Warner Cable back in November of last year. The new online channel, built in conjunction with Maven Networks, features 200 short video clips at launch.
NBC seeks ‘Star’ with Online Music Show: NBC is launching “StarTomorrow,” a music competition-based online-only reality show, with Emmy-winning producer and songwriter David Foster and reality show producer David Broome (“The Biggest Loser”), with the winner gaining a recording deal with Foster.
E! adds Playmates and Paris to iTunes: This is E!’s first deal with iTunes…it will supply programmes including the second season of The Girls Next Door – the show following life inside the Playboy mansion – The Soup, Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie’s The Simple Life and Dr 90210.
Scottish Media Group Launches Stv.tv: It has launched stv.tv, which is in the first phase of a three-step roll-out of a strategy intended to increase interaction between viewers and the broadcaster. With online bingo and dating, it is obviously meant to generate much needed extra revenue too.
