Trouble in Firefly Land? Senior Management Changed; Office Consolidation

Updated below: What’s happening at Firefly Mobile, the Chicago-based kids MVNO? The company has replaced its CEO, CFO and CMO, all very recently (might have been within the week, but I’m not sure)…the former CTO Patrick Marry is now the CEO. I heard about this through a source and its website listing of the management team seems to confirm that (the present and a-week-ago Google cached page). The source also said that the offices are being consolidated in its HQs in Chicago (the other office being here in LA), and that some layoffs might have happened, though I have not been able to confirm that from the company (e-mails and calls were not returned).
Firefly raised $31.8 million in fourth round funding late last year, from Sevin Rosen Funds and ComVentures.
Anyway, this is as much as I know…on the case so stay tuned. For a good background on the company’s service, read this WSJ story (posted on Firefly site). It was among the first MVNOs targeting the kids, and was started in 2002.
Updated: I heard back from Roland Van Der Meer, who is a partner at ComVentures, and is on Firefly’s board: “It cut its burn back and centralized management to Chicago where there was critical mass. The channel partners are very happy and the product is selling on track. Stay tuned for the refresh of its products and some exciting news.”
