Time Inc. seeks an experienced public relations professional to play a key role in managing the company’s communications efforts and shaping relationships with a wide range of internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, the ideal candidate must have a proven track record of success in proactive and reactive PR efforts. Very strong writing skills are a must, as are experience, or a very strong interest, in the media industry and journalism. He/she is a strategic thinker, leader, collaborator and possesses the stature and confidence to advise top Time Inc. management regularly, including the Chairman & CEO and Editor in Chief. Must be able to manage simultaneous projects and prioritize staff work load.
In this position, the executive will:
— Serve as an effective deputy to the SVP
— Act as an official spokesperson for Time Inc., primarily with trade press
— Manage major company announcements with internal audiences and the media
— Establish ongoing relationships with key media and trade press
— Play a large role in creating and refining overall company messages
— Draft a wide variety of internal and external communications materials – releases, memos, bios, letters, etc.
— Help prepare senior management executives for media interviews, speeches, appearances
— Strategically advise PR Directors at the titles and serve as a central source for information, counsel and crisis communications assistance
— Establish relationships around Time Inc. to continuously gather information for speeches and other communications
— Keep current on industry trends and news; establish relationships around the media industry
— Create and implement strategic communications plans for specific central departments, such as the Time Inc. Media Group
— Serve as a primary link between Time Inc. and Time Warner
— Direct internal events, such as the Chairman’s Quarterly Management Meeting
— Manage external special events, including potential media coverage
— Oversee Time Inc.’s corporate social responsibility programs
— Help manage a department of five
— Continuously improve current publicity systems and infrastructure
— Oversee the Time Inc. News Roundup, a daily press clipping report for senior Time Inc. executives
