VSNL Enables Photo And Content Sharing; Partners With Netomat

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) is joining the web 2.0 bandwagon. It is joining hands with US-based Netomat, Inc., a software company that enables sharing of content and photos across mobile phones and PCs. With their partnership, VSNL customers will be able to use a service called Netomat hub, which allows PC and mobile phone users to get text, photos, news and blog feeds instantly, and share them in private groups or public blogs.
Shashi Kalathil, President, Broadband and Retail Business, VSNL, said, “User-generated digital content and new technologies such as RSS which enable easy sharing and distribution of digital content are transforming how the world communicates and receives information. Netomat’s new service brings these powerful, cutting-edge technologies together in simple and easy-to-use ways on both the PC and mobile phone, enabling our customers to both communicate more richly with friends, family and co-workers and to access information they need anywhere, anytime.”
VSNL users subscribing to the Netomat hub service will receive a desktop application plus 25 MB of additional storage space. Users have a choice of subscribing to premium features at Rs 25 per month or Rs 250 per year. There is a also a free version without the photohub features and less storage space. Netomat hub was launched as a public beta in the US in January. I am not a VSNL user, so I will not be able to check this out.
