Time Inc. Suspends Print Version of Teen People; Focus on Website

Teen People, one of the first major magazines to be launched simultaneously in print and on the web, is suspending its print operations…it could precede similar changes at other Time Inc. publications, the story says, citing sources.
Ann Moore and John Huey, president and editor-in-chief, announced the changes in a memo to staff on Tuesday in which they pledged to invest in TeenPeople.com, citing its growth and promise.
The latest move is expected to affect 50 jobs, although Time Inc will try to relocate as many as possible within the company.
Seems a trend among teen titles, for obvious reason: teens are online etc. Hachette Filipacchi closed down ElleGirl magazine with its June/July issue, although it is continuing to focus on the website. In Canada, a similar thing happened with its youth-market free newspaper Dose.
