The controversial draft broadcast bill will not be placed in the current (Monsoon) session of the Parliament. Exchange4media has a report that the bill is not in the list of legislations that have been planned for this session. That is good news for the various stakeholders in the broadcast/media business. It gives more time to discuss the gaps and pitfalls in the bill and come up with a legislation that is befitting the current, converged media environment
In another report, cyberlaw expert Pawan Duggal is being quoted as rubbishing the broadcast bill in the current form.
