XM CEO Hugh Panero is ceding the title of president and a large chunk of operating responsibility to Nate Davis, a board member since 1999. Davis has been appointed president and COO, a dual role he held at XO Communications, Inc.. The bulk of his senior experience is in the telecom sector; his resume includes EVP-technical operations, Nextel Communications. He moves to XM from Rannd Advisory Group, where he is managing director. Davis will remain on the XM board; he’s also on the board of Charter Communications.
WSJ (sub. req.): Davis will oversee marketing, retail and automotive, finance, engineering and technology, customer service, information technology and human resources. Panero retains programming, advertising sales, business and legal affairs, and corporate communications. Release.
