Mirics Semiconductors, a UK-baed mobile TV chips firm, has received a first round of financing from Pond Ventures. The amount was undisclosed. It was also seed funded by Pond.
Mirics has turned the mobile TV standards battle into an opportunity, developing a smart radio frequency chip that can receive several competing protocols, such as DVB-H, T-DMB, ISDB-T, DAB-IP, MediaFlo, DAB, DRM and even AM/FM, it claims.
