Courting a Hot Market With Cool Phone Service

(reg required) Ah yes, everyone is courting the youth market…NYT has some good Vox Pops (“A cellphone to me is like a new toy,” he said. “Everyone has one but some people’s are better than others.”) in this story of how the Sidekick 3 is becoming the new Razr, and it does look good in the image. The problem with the youth market is that 60% of teens are on their parents plan, and their parents tend to buy plans based on special deals than on the ability to use high-end content. There’s a “half-full” view of this, in that 40% of teens with phones have bought their own, and are looking for the cool factor.
