[by Rafat] It is at times like these that you see the real value of live TV, especially local Indian live TV, not the one filtered through the mainstream American or British media. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected and Mumbai city.
I have mentioned before here that CNN-IBN, the local CNN joint venture channel, has been simulcasting the channel online. The site’s been very slow since this morning, and the video feed is almost unplayable because of the load.
Interesting this: CNN.com has a live video service called CNN Pipeline, which simulcasts four different CNN feeds, and it has been webcasting a live feed of CNN-IBN, along with all locals ads etc. It is a subscription service, pretty cheap, with a day pass as well. I bet they have received a fair number of NRI subscribers today.
Also, just found out that SifyMax, the broadband service from Sify, is also simulcasting the CNN-IBN feed and the quality is much better…and it is free.
Meanwhile, CNBC TV-18 JV also does a live simulcasts of its channels, so would be good tomorrow morning to see the effect of blasts on the stock market there.
NDTV has a lame video subscription service: “A monthly subscription entitles you to watch 250 minutes of premium broadband (256k) or 500 minutes of broadband (100k) or any combination of the above.”
