Dan Rather, who has just signed a deal with Mark Cuban’s HDNet, is also having talks with AOL, reports HR. This is one of the several projects he is working on. It isn’t clear what Rather would do at AOL, though discussions between Rather and AOL have been held in recent weeks, and AOL has confirmed talk, the story says.
If the deal is done, it would boost an already robust AOL News division, which under the leadership of Lewis D’Vorkin, an AOL veteran and former senior editor at the WSJ and NYT, has built a following on the Web. But till now, it has mainly done partnerships with other news organizations instead of doing original content.
