So says JEGI database, but it was skewed a bit by the $11 billion acquisition of VNU by a consortium of private equity funds and the $6 billion sale of Knight-Ridder to McClatchy. 315 deals completed, totaling more than $37 billion in value. This represented increases of 12.5% in deal flow and 33.5% in deal value versus the first six months of 2005, across the 11 media and information industry sectors tracked by JEGI.
In online media sector, the number of deals nearly doubled (86 deals for $3.7 billion) and the marketing and interactive services sector, transaction value was up 116%. More here in PDF.
