So it is not just me thinking on those lines: Sue Marek from Wireless Week writes an editorial echoing the same thoughts: “Is it just me or does it appear as though some of the top wireless carriers are having difficulty keeping their mobile content executives from leaving their positions?”
She names some defections: Jason Ford, Alex Bloom, Bill Stone…I’ll add Paul Palmieri from last year and latest one, Ted Casey. I’m sure there are other examples.
An obvious equation works here: carriers=staid; startups=exciting + creative.
But her last point is the one that makes most sense to the startups working with these carriers: “For small content firms that have struggled to develop relationships with the Tier 1 operators…this can have a huge impact on their future business. Often, this means that they have to get the new person up-to-speed on their products and once again prove their viability in the market.”
