HBO Has No Plans For Broadband: Kinda suprising to hear that so openly from HBO…there are no immediate plans into the broadband video arena..even though network owns all distribution rights to all of its original content, giving it carte blanche to put its signature programs anywhere it wants.
Martial Arts Channel to Kick-Start on Broadband: Martial Arts Channel will offer six combat-sports and fitness-based broadband-video channels on its ad-supported site. Updated weekly, the site will offer a six-hour wheel of streamed video featuring martial-arts tournaments, combat-sports-themed movies and other original fare targeted to the genre.
Sundance Channel gets Googled: Deal allows consumers to download their choice of 18 of the network’s movie titles at $3.99 for a 24-hour rental or $9.99 to own. Three of the Sundance Channel’s original series are available only for purchase starting at $1.99 an episode.
Novac’s Skype TV: TV through Skype, only in Japan for now.
Hanaro pins hope on TV portal: In Korea, Hanaro Telecom, Korea’s second-largest fixed-line telecom carrier, looks set to restart its growth engine this month by launching TV portal services under the banner, “HanaTV.” American International Group and Newbridge Capital have a 39.6-percent stake in Hanaro.
