Verizon Wireless and Deutsche Telekom AG’s T-Mobile have both qualified to participate in an August sale of valuable wireless licenses that will likley lead to next-generation services, according to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. AWS Wireless and Dolan Family Holdings (which has links to Cablevision Systems) also qualified in the auction which is expected to generate between 8 and 15 billion dollars. 171 applications, including that of Cingular, “were deemed incomplete and those potential bidders have until July 18 to address the issues”.
