Compact Disc Maker Moser Baer To Foray Into Entertainment Business

DNA: Being only in the cyclical, commoditised business of CDs and DVDs may not be a great idea. So why not try some new growth areas like entertainment? That’s what Moser Baer, the Delhi-based and the world’s third largest manufacturer of CDs, is planning to do. The company is looking at diversifying into entertainment business in-  its entirety – not just film production but also other areas. It’s also kind of forward integration for the company as it will own the content too that fills these CDs and DVDs.
The company has already hired former-  chief executive of Saregama India’s films business, Harish Dayani, to head the new business. The business plan will be ready by August-end or early September this year. The business will be headquartered in Andheri West, the HQ of Mumbai’s entertainment business.
