The Hindustan Times: After a TV channel’s expose on how SMS can be misused without the knowledge of the mobile phone owner, India’s Department of Telecom has formed a seven-member committee to study the issue of SMS misuse and to suggest ways to prevent them.
The committee would be headed by AK Bhandari, Advisor (technology) of DoT. Other members are officials from Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), BSNL, Bharti and Reliance. The committee held its first meeting on Wednesday. The committee will submit the report in five days and will look into how such misuse of technology was possible and the subsequent measures to prevent it. The committee will also look into the role of service providers in it.
