Cisco’s Investment Strategy For Digital Home

A good story about Cisco’s changing strategy in the consumer electronics/digital home space, where it has done three big acquisitions (Linksys, Scientific-Atlanta and Kiss Technology), but is now focusing on investing in other startups.
To fulfill Cisco’s home-networking vision, it needs access to content and security technology to protect copyright movies or games. So the investments include Akimbo (to be delivered on its Kiss networked DVD players), Widevine (for DRM), and gaming companies such as TerraPlay, IndiaGames, Exent and Emergent.
