A survey has found that 45% of respondents want the MS Mobile office suite on their mobile phones in the future, and 44% want mobile TV. Just over one in ten consumers interviewed claim to be using these features already.
The results are from ORC International: “More than 500 consumers were interviewed via the ORC OmniPanel – a specialist, on-going consumer insights research service”.
I’d be a little wary of selection bias. For example, 39% of respondents required a QWERTY keyboard for typing e-mails…I find it very hard to believe that 39% of the population want a QWERTY keyboard on their mobile phones, or at least are more worried about that than the size and style of the handset, a concern borne out by the survey. “When asked what factor most influenced the selection of the handset at the time of the last upgrade, the highest proportion of consumers interviewed (31%) stated that they were driven to purchase because of the overall design and style of the phone.”
Some other figures: 32% want radio and 31% want an image manipulator photo editor.
