Hyderabad based Goldstone Technologies has formed a 50:50 JV with Singapore-based SPL Innotech, a multimedia research and development technology company, for IPTV. They would set up a data centre in Singapore at an investment of Rs 15 crore. The companies have also tied up with Vin Infotech to offer IPTV services in Mauritius. Under the alliance, SPL would provide the technology while Goldstone would decide on the content, channels and the business model. Goldstone said it sees opportunities in education, governance and healthcare.
Goldstone is also betting big on the movie-on-demand business and already has 7,500 Telugu, Hindi and Kannada movies in its database. The company expects big business from the NRI audience.
The Hindu adds: Goldstone will start providing IPTV services to NRIs. A launch is expected in August.
