Here’s another mobile effort by a radio station…Australian Macquarie Radio Network has “become the first Australian radio group to ink a commercial deal to provide audio clips to mobile phones, in a landmark deal with Optus”.
The service starts off with sending clips rather than streaming the radio station, with content including news and current affairs from the radio and additional content obtained by MRN specifically for the mobile effort, such as “gossip and comedy”. The price is 30c (US22c) for 30 seconds, and the snippets will not include advertising.
“The service would soon also offer subscriber-based live streams of 2GB broadcasts to internet-enabled mobile phones.”
