Jim Merrick To Head Mobliss

Mobile media and marketing company Mobliss has announced a new president and CEO — Jim Merrick, formerly of Nintendo. At Nintendo Merrick has been head of software, hardware and brand marketing across Europe, as well as technical director for Nintendo in the US, developing new technologies and leading a support team dedicated to helping licensees develop games for Nintendo systems. At Mobliss he intends to expand the company’s efforts in creative mobile entertainment, including “beefing up the company’s focus in the mobile-phone gaming arena which is one of the fastest growing segments of the $27.5 billion global interactive entertainment industry”.
So far Mobliss has done things like power the American Idol SMS voting system and bring Family Feud adn the New York Times Crossword to mobile.
In other appointment news, Abandon Mobile, has announced the appointment of Kristin Montgomery to the position of Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing. She comes from Glu Mobile and Hands On Mobile.
