We thought the news of ContentNext’s first round of funding might get a little attention but the response has been truly overwhelming. Many thanks for all your good wishes and for the comments on our blogs and elsewhere. It will be good to return to the usual state of reporting the news instead of being it. In the meantime, a few of the posts that stand out for more than the virtual pats on the back:
— WSJ: The first to report (the “free” link was appreciated) … and with the info that the Greycroft Partners’ investment is under $1 million. One section is getting some reverb: “The financing, though small in comparison with most Web deals, is one of several in recent weeks that indicate optimism on the part of early-stage investors in the viability of blogs as an outlet for journalism, rather than the gossip and personal opinion that characterizes much of the medium.”
— Mike Hirshland aka VC Mike: “Following on the heels of Om Malik taking funding from my good friends (and Automattic coinvestors) at True Ventures, this is another data point suggesting that, at least in the minds of a couple smart VCs, there is a real business to be built by professional bloggers.”
