Supernova: Craig, Yahoo Research, GM Social Media,

Yet another interesting conference that didn’t fit on the schedule. Luckily, David Weinberger and Dan Farber are on hand and hard at work as are many others. Here’s the official aggregation page, the streaming audio. David’s posts on Craig Newmark, Jonathan Schwartz, Workshop Day.
From Dan, Supernova: Yahoo flexing research muscles: “Yahoo has a lot of usage data to apply to its research-12 terabytes a day, which the company is using to improve search results, targeting and ad and marketing solutions.
General Motors rising on social media: “In the context of the social media explosion, Michael Wiley, GM director of new media, didn’t hold back. ‘The existing ad paradigm sucks, it’s woefully inefficient. It takes huge dollars to create ads on TV that run for 30 or 60 seconds and give the consumer virtually no information,’ Wiley said. ‘The opportunity is to create relatively grassroots ads, six to eight minutes long that give an in depth brand experience and are released online.'”
