Mobile social networking provider NewBay Softwarehas announced the acquisition of Inamobile, a UK developer of handset applications that provide image upload and viewing capabilities across Java, Symbian and BREW platforms.
Newbay wanted Inamobile’s PIXOTA technology, which will add a couple of features to Newbay’s FoneBlog service. It will provide a pop up prompt which offers the chance to send the images to a predefined blog via a single click, which apparently increases picture messaging by up to 20 times. It allows several pictures to be sent at once (making multiple image uploads easier) and it sends images via http rather than MMS, allowing for increased image size and quality (and data usage, I guess).
