Google has confirmed that it’s testing a cost-per-action system seperate from the cost-per-click currently in use. Both are under AdSense. The cost-per-action auctions will be at higher rates. The trial appears to be for current AdSense publishers, who will be able to choose from more formats and will have more flexibility in promoting ads. The idea is to cut down on cost-per-click fraud and to make ads more valuable.
David Jackson at Seeking Alpha was the first to report the news today and has details from the publisher POV.
