Blue Frog Testing SMS-TV Interaction Service In U.S.

Seattle-based Blue Frog Mobile, which sells ringtones, games and graphics for mobile phones off the deck, is testing SMS display on TVs in Detroit, Indianapolis and Phoenix, and starting today in LA (not sure if this is the first U.S. first…I’m sure there are more). Its product, TXTV, allows viewers to send text messages that appear on the bottom of a television screen tuned to participating stations. Plans call for the service to be in more than 10 other markets in the next two months.
SMS-TV interaction is nothing new, but this is more explicit: a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen, with shortcodes to test a message in. Once this rolls out at enough stations, BlueFrog plans to offer new features, including creating profiles for people so that when they text message, their photo and age appear.
