Industry Moves: Johanson To Leave PBS

After more than a decade heading up PBS interactive efforts, Cindy Johanson is leaving her post as SVP-interactive and education effective the end of June. Johanson “is currently evaluating multiple opportunities in both the commercial and non-profit sectors.” She is credited as the moving force behind the rise of pbs.org: as she departs, pbs.org has 1,800 sub-sites with hundreds of interactive games, blogs and forums; 50,000 audio and video segments — and works with 348 member station sites. Her team will be led on an interim basis by Mary Kadera, VP-education. Press release.
— Future plans for the division will be made after the arrival in the fall of John Boland as new Chief Content Officer.
