TeliaSonera Sweden is teaming up with Nokia for a DVB-H trial, which “will be in extensive use in Gothenburg and Stockholm from early August until year-end”. I’m reasonably certain this isn’t the first DVB-H trial in Sweden…
In other mobile TV news, Australia’s Telstra is trying to convince the government to reallocate spectrum used for datacasting to mobile TV. It wants the government to use a light touch when regulating the new service, except that “the constraints on TV networks to multi-channel should remain in place until changes could be made to the so-called anti-siphoning list”. It said the rules should vary “depending on whether it is a subscription service, delivered point-to-point or over the internet”.
Communications Minister Helen Coonan has said she doesn’t want the service to replicate traditional TV services…
