Gates To Give Up Day-to-Day Role At Microsoft

Microsoft said late Thursday that Bill Gates was immediately handing over his role as chief software architect to CTO Ray Ozzie and will transition out of his day-to-day role over the next two years. Gates wants to devote more of his time to global health and education work through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
After 2008, Gates will continue to serve as chairman and an adviser on key development projects.
