InfoSpace is ramping up its executive and research team with some new appointments:
— It has appointed a new R&D head: Dr. Reed Thorkildsen is the new VP of technology and R&D for InfoSpace. He will be responsible for “identifying and applying emerging technologies to advance InfoSpace’s mobile and online products and partnerships, and to continue to build market share”. Most recently, Dr. Thorkildsen was director of technical business development at CoCo Communications, an early-stage Seattle company, where he managed technology and business relationships with customers and partners involving its communications technologies for wireless and wired networks.
— Two new VPs: Steve Gunn as VP of carrier sales, and the promotion of Sunil Thomas from director of search platforms to VP of product engineering. Gunn previously held positions in marketing and management at Sprint and Nextel. Thomas joined InfoSpace in 1999 as a development manager and has recently overseen the development of InfoSpace’s local search and mobile search applications.
