Turner Broadcasting System: Director, Data Center Operations, Atlanta, GA

The Director of Data Center Operations at Turner is responsible for overall day-to-day operation of Internet Operation’s production environment and the achievement of systems availability and service objectives. As a member of the management team, you will lead the delivery of operational metrics and provide leadership for system improvements gleaned from these metrics. You will also develop capacity forecasting tools and facilitate the understanding of the business objectives by employees within the department. Additionally, you will mentor and coach staff by identifying individual strengths and areas for development and implementing plans to ensure their continual growth.
Principle Accountabilities
— Responsible for leading your team’s efforts in uptime of internet production systems and testing environments.
— Establish 24/7 monitoring, problem identification, escalations, and notifications related to all internet production systems, and services
— Manage budgets, staff and activities of the Network Operations Center, Server Operations and Data Center expansions.
— Team with PMO and Development groups to review, accept and ensure proper integration of new services into production environment.
— Identify operational issues impacting service levels and working with Operations groups to drive their resolution
— Manage vendor and partner operational relationships.
— Develop, market, and ensure adherence of operational policies, procedures, and expectations.
— Manage tasks impacting the tactical Operational activities of production environment.
— Generate the timely delivery of comprehensive status and executive reports for day to day operational performance and health.
— Manage internal change control processes.
— Manage capacity planning, system monitoring, and system load testing processes.
Requirements:
— BS or BA degree in computer science or related field
— 10 years technical management experience in an Operational role
— 7 years managing capital and operating expense budgets.
— 5 years experience supporting business enterprise applications in a UNIX/LINUX enterprise environment.
— 5 years experience managing technical projects and people.
— Experience managing multiple data centers and developing the strategies used to maintain a highly available operational environment.
— A broad based knowledge on establishing and maintaining a centralized systems support infrastructure, plus experience working in large scale transaction processing environment.
— Data center operations experience that includes capacity planning and forecasting, disaster recovery and business continuity is key.
— An ability to solve problems and move quickly in a fast-paced environment that can switch gears quickly is required.
