Tivo continuing morphing into a standalone platform: subscribers will be able to access video clips from NBA, New York Times, iVillage and others through a new service called TiVoCast, available at no extra charge. The services require one of the company’s Series2 DVRs, which include a broadband Internet connection.
Last month Tivo did a deal where broadband video published through Brightcove can be distributed by it on TVs.
USAToday: Total of 10 content providers in this deal: Besids the ones above, also, CNet, H2O: Hip-Hop on Demand, Here!, action sports network Union on Demand, Heavy.com, Danger Rangers kids content and video blog Rocketboom. Most of the new shows will be ad-supported and last a few minutes.
